A fifteen-year-old singer actress from Visayas bested other finalists of Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan Season and grabbed the coveted Two Million prize money, a house and lot and recording contract from StarMusic.
Janine Berdin, from Visayas, rendered a medley from the songs of Bamboo and other OPM artists that made her this year’s grand champion of Abs cbn Showtime’s Tawag Ng Tanghalan. The second place went to Ato Arman of Bukidnon and Steven Paysu also got the third spot and received half million and 300,000 respectively. Janine Berdin were already the crowd’s favorite even before she sang her final song because of her amazing performances starting from the beginning to the contest up to the championship rounds of three remaining artists namely Berdin, Ato Arman and Steven Paysu. Berdin represented the Visayas region, Ato Arman represented Mindanao region and Steven Paysu, who became ABS CBN global champion represented the Overseas Filipino Worker from around the world. Prior to Berdin’s discovery in Tawag ng Tanghalan, She said she was an actress doing extra roles in MMK and other TV episodes. She also trained as reserve of the Philippine Air Force.
